EYES Nursery Program runs for 2 ½ hour, (9:30 -12 or 3:00 – 5:30). The program supports each child in reaching their potential in all areas. Our program is designed to enhance all aspects of a child as a whole including health, cognitive, physical, emotional, social development and educational needs. Our teachers are well trained and experienced, Registered Early Childhood Educators (RECE) and there is one RECE for each group of 8 children.
Emergent Curriculum and Learning through Play
Children are closely observed by program teachers given opportunities for learning based on their observed interests. We believe that a child should be an active participant in their learning and therefore our teachers develop projects around the emerging interests of children. Through these projects children and teachers work as a collaborative team learning by exploring and manipulating objects, asking questions, solving problems and performing experiments.
We at EYES Daycare Centre believe that children should learn through play and that play is essential and fundamental to a child’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. Learning within the program is made visible through observation and documentation. Teachers observe the children as they learn, take photographs, and document what children say as they learn. Rooms are filled with evidence of children’s learning through play and discovery.
